Healthtech Features K4Connect in LeadingAge 2025 AI Innovations Article

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the senior living landscape, and this year’s LeadingAge 2025 Annual Meeting in Boston put that transformation front and center. From predictive analytics to generative AI and large language models, providers are finding new ways to use technology to improve operations, support staff, and enhance resident experiences.

According to the 2025 Argentum Technology Report, 76% of surveyed senior living leaders said AI will be a transformative or positive force in the next five years; up from just 58% in 2023. Most organizations are already leveraging AI for predictive analytics (70%), marketing and sales efficiencies (50%), and resident chatbots (50%).

Insight From K4Connect's Joe Velderman

During one session, Joe Velderman, Chief Strategy Officer at K4Connect shared how his exploration into generative AI began soon after ChatGPT’s public release in late 2022.

“Data is the fuel for these LLMs,” Velderman explained, “and so, I started thinking about how necessary it was going to be for organizations to use and leverage data in order to effectively and contextually take advantage of these tools.”

His remarks underscore a critical truth: meaningful AI adoption starts with a strong data foundation. At K4Connect, that principle is core to our mission; helping senior living operators integrate, organize, and activate data across systems to deliver smarter, more connected communities.

Key Takeaways from LeadingAge 2025
  • AI adoption is accelerating: From predictive analytics to marketing automation, most organizations are already testing or implementing AI in key workflows.

  • Large language models are gaining ground: 63% of organizations report using Microsoft Copilot, 36% use ChatGPT, and more than half of non-users plan to adopt an LLM within the next year.

  • Data is central to success:  Leaders like Joe Velderman emphasize that the value of AI depends on data readiness and integration.

  • Fluency over literacy:  Organizations are shifting focus from simply understanding AI to becoming fluent, embedding it into daily operations and culture.

  • Human oversight remains essential: As one AI-generated response at the conference noted, empathy, fairness, and data security must stay at the forefront of every implementation.
