K4Connect to Speak at 61st Annual LeadingAge North Carolina Conference
Company’s VP of Operations to present on the latest trends in smart and connected technologies and the importance of human-centered design
Raleigh, N.C. – May 15, 2017 – K4Connect, a mission-centered technology company that creates solutions to serve and empower older adults and individuals living with disabilities, today announced that the Company’s VP of Operations, Ian Sanders, will present alongside Mike Walsh, Executive Director of Trinity Oaks Retirement Communities, in Salisbury, NC at LeadingAge North Carolina’s Annual Conference, taking place in Pinehurst, North Carolina, from May 15 – 18, 2017. The presentation, “Case Study: Senior-Designed Technology Delivers a Connected Community,” will be held at Wednesday, May 17 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm.
During the session, Sanders and Walsh will discuss the latest trends in smart and connected technologies for successful senior living communities, including “human-centered design,” and how these technologies can be integrated. The session will also cover best practices of integrating technology to enhance community programming, measuring the business impact of utilizing smart devices, and explore the impact of a “connected community” on residents, family and staff. The session will also review the implementation and resulting resident experience of K4Community, K4Connect’s “connected-life” platform, which integrates the latest in smart home, connected wellness and social engagement technologies into a single, senior-centric, easy to use application, at Trinity Oaks. The session will explore in detail the feedback and learnings from a subset of resident users and community staff.
“While technology advancements for the individual and the home are happening at light speed, most technology companies have neglected the fastest growing population on the planet: older adults,” said Sanders. “However, as we’ve seen with our pilot program with Trinity Oaks Retirement Communities, when you design technology with a senior-centric lens, you can truly change and enhance lives.”
“Since implementing K4Connect’s technology, we’ve seen 100% adoption rate of home automation usage and 90% adoption of tablet usage,” said Walsh. “K4Connect worked with us to address and achieve our organizational goals of how we could better serve our residents. We are excited about the results we’ve seen so far, and are pleasantly surprised by the feedback and preferences that our residents provide through the application. K4Community has served as an incredible source of information advising us of what the residents are looking for at Trinity Oaks.”
