Raleigh, N.C. (September 28, 2017)K4Connect, a mission-centered technology company that creates solutions to serve and empower older adults and individuals living with disabilities, has been selected as a finalist for the NC Tech Awards in the Internet of Things (IoT) category. The NC Tech Awards is North Carolina’s only statewide technology awards program that recognizes achievements in technology and is presented by the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA).

K4Connect’s K/Platform is the first-of-its-kind, open platform to integrate IoT devices and applications into a common, easy-to-use interface. No matter the device, manufacture, or wireless protocol, the K/Platform is the underlying technology for all of K4Connect’s existing and products. The technology is currently being used in the Company’s flagship product, K4Community, which is designed specifically for residents of senior living communities.

“For over 20 years, the NC Technology Association has celebrated companies, organizations and individuals for outstanding achievements at the NC Tech Awards. As a finalist in this year’s awards, K4Connect has distinguished itself as one of the state’s most innovative and emergent leaders,” stated Brooks Raiford, NCTA’s President and CEO.

The awards process culminates with the NC Tech Awards Gala on November 9, 2017, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Durham, NC, where hundreds of business, technology and public leaders from across the state will gather to celebrate the tech sector and honor the winners and finalists in each category.

“We are grateful to be recognized for this esteemed award for our work in IoT. We aim to be innovators with our technology and advocates to the market we serve – older adults and those living with a disability,” said Scott Moody, Co-founder, CEO and Chief Client Advocate of K4Connect. “IoT is becoming less of a novelty and more of a utility. The K/Platform was developed to make everyday activities a little bit easier for older adults and those living with a disability in the modern world and we believe that utilizing IoT capabilities will be greatly influential in these people’s lives.”
