K4Connect CEO Selected as Closing Keynote Speaker at the 23rd Annual Cucalorus Festival
Titled “Inspiration: Five Stories”, Scott Moody to share the stories of five people that have inspired him in the course of his career
Raleigh, N.C. – November 7, 2017 – K4Connect, a mission-centered technology company creating solutions that serve and empower older adults and individuals living with disabilities, today announced that its CEO, Scott Moody, will deliver the closing keynote speaker at the 23rd Annual Cucalorus Festival, a non-competitive creative festival, taking place from November 8-12, 2017 in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.
Cucalorus is exploring creativity through three main programs for the 2017 festival: Film, Stage, and Connect. Moody will deliver the closing keynote on Friday, November 10th at 4:00pm ET, during the Connect portion of the festival. Moody’s closing keynote will cover his personal story on some of the people that have inspired him in his life and career.
“The Connect conference is all about innovation-led economic development, and examining the ways in which innovation and technology can deliver positive economic impacts across regional economies, companies, and individuals,” said Tom Looney, Connect President. “Scott combines vision and courage with the unique ability to build technology platforms and companies of enduring value. We are thrilled to have him as one of this year’s featured Connect keynoters and honorees.”
Moody has almost four decades of experience working within the technology industry, from semiconductor technologies across markets including communication satellites, automobiles, laptops and smart phones; to software technologies and applications serving older adults and people living with disabilities.
With his recent startup, K4Connect, Moody and his team have developed K4Community, an application specifically designed for the residents of senior living communities, with future plans to launch K4Home, built for those the company serves living in their own homes. Already being used by thousands of residents (and their families), staff and operators in senior living communities across the country, K4Community integrates the latest in home automation, connected health and social engagement features to promote better, more independent lives for residents.
Prior to K4Connect, Moody was the co-founder, chairman and CEO of AuthenTec, the fingerprint sensor technology company that was acquired by Apple in 2012. At AuthenTec, Moody helped raise over $70 million in venture capital and led the Company’s successful IPO (NASDAQ). A graduate of North Carolina State, Moody began his career at Harris Semiconductor, now Intersil, in 1980 where he eventually became VP of a $200M business division before co-founding AuthenTec.
“The Cucalorus Connect Festival brings together a great group of thought-leaders, entrepreneurs, and start-ups from across North Carolina, in a fun, creative environment, where we can cultivate relationships and discuss emerging trends,” said Moody. “I’m excited to be a part of the Festival this year, and share my personal story with the community,” he added.
